From Service to Sail Away: How Cruises Honor and Support Veterans

Today is Veterans Day – a day that always hits close to home for me. As a U.S. Air Force veteran, I know firsthand the pride that comes with wearing the uniform. Serving your country is deeply fulfilling – but it’s no secret that it can also be one of the hardest and most demanding jobs on the planet. Military life asks you to sacrifice time with family and friends, stability, and at times your own health and well-being, all in service to protecting others.

That commitment deserves to be seen, honored, and remembered. And that’s one of the reasons I’m proud to sail with Carnival.

Carnival’s Heartfelt Support for the Military

If you’ve ever been on a Carnival cruise and attended their Military Appreciation gathering, you know how powerful it is. It’s not just a quick applause or a passing mention – it’s a genuine, heartfelt moment of respect and gratitude. Veterans and active-duty service members come together to share stories, connect, and feel seen.

I’ve attended these events many times, and every single one has moved me. There’s laughter, sometimes tears, and always an overwhelming feeling of community and pride. Carnival doesn’t treat military service as a footnote – they highlight it as part of the cruising experience, and I truly appreciate that commitment.

And one of the more surprising parts? Carnival gives away a free cruise every month to a veteran who attends these events. That’s more than a gesture – it’s a real investment in acknowledging those who served.

Military Discounts – A Thank-You at the Booking Stage

When I was active-duty, I booked cruises using the military discounts available to me. And those savings made a difference. Carnival continues to offer military rates that help veterans and service members enjoy time off – time to reconnect, relax, and rebuild the balance that service can sometimes take out of you.

If you’re planning a cruise and you’ve served, make sure to ask about military fares – they vary depending on sailing and timing, but they’re absolutely worth checking.

To My Fellow Veterans

Whether you served four years or a full career – thank you. We all wore that uniform knowing what it meant. We all gave a part of ourselves for something bigger than we are. And today, we honor that.
